Potter Marsh on the Anchorage Hillside reported a wind gusts to 65 knots. One of the stations on top of Flattop Mountain reported a wind speed of 48 knots with a gusts to 71 knots.

Wider weather episode

A far reaching winter storm set up a tight pressure gradient on its western side resulting in high winds for the Eastern Aleutians. On the north side of the storm, precipitation overran Arctic air already in place across the North Pacific resulting in heavy snowfall.
