High westerly winds occurred across the San Diego County Deserts on April 11th and 12th. Wind gusts of 40 to 50 mph were common across the area, with some localized higher gusts. An observation site near Borrego Springs recorded a peak wind gust to 67 mph at 1:35 AM on the 12th.

A strong upper level trough caused gusty west winds to occur over the Mountains and Deserts of Southern California on April 11th and 12th.
