Event narrative
The month started out with the entire zone in Severe(D2) drought, but over the eastern area, conditions worsened to Extreme(D3) drought by the end of the month. No precipitation was measured by the Buckhorn Cooperative Observer which was 0.23 inches below normal.
Wider weather episode
No precipitation fell in April for almost all the area which lead to an expansion of Severe
(D2) to Exceptional(D4) drought conditions.
