A warm front lifted northward across southern Minnesota during the afternoon with a potent shortwave moving northeast out of Nebraska. This shortwave generated a large complex of storms and quickly moved northeast across southern and east central Minnesota before moving into west central Wisconsin by the evening. By the time it moved into west central Wisconsin, a large bow echo had formed and produced damaging wind gusts and hail.
