Wider weather episode

A very strong upper level storm system moved across the Four Corners Region on the 22nd. This system brought a high wind event to the combined Oklahoma and Texas Panhandles during the day, and led to development of severe thunderstorms. Wind shear and instability in the atmosphere associated with the approaching system led to supercell storms which were very efficient at producing large hail that exceeded 2 inches in some events.
