What EF1 means. On the Enhanced Fujita scale, EF1 is moderate damage: roofs badly stripped, mobile homes pushed off foundations or overturned, windows broken, consistent with estimated gusts of 86–110 mph. The rating comes from a survey of the worst damage after the storm, not from a wind measurement, so it says as much about what the tornado hit as about how strong it was.

What the National Weather Service wrote

An EF-1 tornado formed just west of MS Highway 13 where several trees were snapped in a nearby field. Several trees were snapped or uprooted along Highway 13 just north of Golden Pine Road. The storm continued to track east-northeast, moving across an area from Odom Bass Road to White Rogers Road, mainly causing tree damage. On Mount Zion Road, several tree trunks were snapped, large limbs were snapped, and large hardwood and softwood trees were uprooted. Along Hartzog Magee Road, several areas of hardwood and softwood trees were snapped or uprooted. Most of the metal roofing was removed from a mobile home and a small shed in this area, and a mobile home on White Rogers Road had a portion of roofing removed. The tornado dissipated shortly after crossing White Rogers Road. The estimated maximum wind gust was 105 mph.
