A north-northeast wind gust of 53 knots was measured at a WeatherFlow station at Smith Shoal Light.

Wider weather episode

A robust squall line moved rapidly southeast from the Gulf of Mexico along an outflow boundary initiated from a large mesoscale convective system the previous day over the northeast Gulf of Mexico. Numerous gale to storm force wind gusts were measured.
