Daytime highs ranged between 104 and 108 degrees on June 10 and June 11.

Wider weather episode

A large area of high pressure strengthened over the area between June 9 and June 11. This resulted in temperatures rising to well above normal readings by June 10 with some locations approaching record highs. Heat Advisories were issued for the San Joaquin Valley, West Side Hills and Kern River Valley and an Excessive Heat Warning was issued for the Kern County Desert areas. The heat continued on June 11 then a low pressure system moved into the Pacific Northwest on June 12 which pushed a cold front through the area resulting in temperatures cooling by a few degrees on June 12 and plunging to slightly below normal levels by June 13.
