Event narrative

Heavy snow began to fall around midnight on April 4th across the Central Cascades and quickly accumulated. Within a 12 hour period from the onset, around 12 inches of new snow was reported at Steven Pass. Snow continued to be heaviest throughout the day on April 4th and into the early morning hours on the 5th. Snow then finally tapered later that evening.

Snow also accumulated at Snoqualmie Pass during this same timeframe but it did not meet or exceed winter storm warning thresholds. Overall snow totals for this multi-day event was around 10 inches.

Wider weather episode

A strong early-spring storm system affected Western Washington, bringing very heavy snow to the Washington Cascades.
