Wider weather episode
A pocket of drier air was situated above the area ahead of a weak frontal boundary over Ocmulgee River in southeast GA Friday morning. This frontal zone continued to slowly shift southward and eventually stalled becoming the primary focus of convection Friday afternoon and evening across inland southeast GA. The combination of lift along the front, diurnal heating, mid-level dry air, and strong instability led to strong to severe storms over inland southeast Georgia producing gusty, wet downburst winds.
