Thunderstorms developed as a warm front lifted into central North Dakota and the James River Valley, where very strong deep layer shear and elevated instability were noted. A few storms became severe. The largest hail reported was ping pong ball size over McLean County. The strongest wind gust reported was estimated at 80 mph, which caused tree and roof damage in Foster County.
