Widespread freezing conditions were reported across agricultural areas of Santa Barbara county. Total crop damages in Santa Barbara county were estimated to be around $20 million.
Wider weather episode
Between January 13th and 15th, a very cold arctic storm brought widespread freezing temperatures and some gusty offshore winds to the area. Across the agricultural areas of San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, Ventura and Los Angeles counties, the freezing overnight temperatures nearly $350 million in crop damages. In the windier spots of the Los Angeles county mountains, wind gusts between 60 and 65 MPH were reported.
