Wider weather episode
Isolated thunderstorms developed ahead of a cold front which moved through the mid-Atlantic during the mid afternoon hours of June 17. Hot temperatures were present ahead of the front, but shear and moisture were lacking, which kept thunderstorms isolated in nature. A couple of storms became strong to severe and produced locally damaging winds. Cooler, drier weather followed as the front swept offshore.
