Wala Fire burned 75 acres south of Highway 76 in Oceanside. Forward rate of spread stopped around 4 pm on June 12. Some damage to outhouses and fences. Residents on the 300 block of Rimhurst Court, Wala Drive, the 300 block of Shadowtree were asked to evacuate. Oceanside Police reported that the fire was contained at 4:16 pm on Twitter.

Wider weather episode

Multiple days of excessive heat occurred across inland areas for several days June 9-13. Multiple wildfires were reported during this time frame, including fires near Wrightwood, Oceanside and along the US-Mexico border.
