Wider weather episode
During the morning hours on April 29 elevated thunderstorms moved eastward just south of Interstate 70. These storms were marginally severe, and with a brief exception only provided enough organization for isolated golfball sized hail. Later in the evening, widespread severe thunderstorms formed in central and eastern Nebraska and Kansas. As these storms approached the Kansas, Nebraska, Missouri border area they formed a potent line of storms that caused some 60 to 70 mph wind and some minor damage across far eastern Kansas and western Missouri during the overnight hours of April 29, going into early April 30.
