A large area of high pressure centered over the Great Basin between June 25 and June 27 provided for a period of much above normal temperatures across the San Joaquin Valley, West Side Hills, Sierra foothills and the Kern River Valley. Daytime high temperatures generally ranged from 104 to 108 Degrees on each of these days. The high began to weaken on June 28 and temperatures began to trend downward during the last few days of June.
