A trained spotter near San Fidel reported quarter size hail that had accumulated to about an inch deep.

With the high pressure center to the east of New Mexico, a steady plume of moisture was present across western New Mexico on June 19, 2022. With these large moisture values, it was an active monsoon day across the area with scattered to numerous thunderstorms favored areas west of the central mountains. Cibola County was hit hardest as severe thunderstorms dropped large hail, and heavy rain caused flash flooding.
