A cold front pushed across western New York triggering scattered thunderstorms over the northern Finger Lakes late in the morning. As these thunderstorms increased, a prolific amount of lightning occurred. The line then swept east across the North Country to the east of Lake Ontario into the afternoon producing straight line wind damage.
