Event narrative
Public reported 10 to 20 trees, a few of them large blown down along J M Craig Road. A few of the trees were quite large and uprooted. A tree limb punctured the wall of an old sawmill.
Wider weather episode
Scattered to numerous thunderstorms developed ahead of a frontal system throughout the afternoon and evening across western North Carolina. Several of the storms produced brief large hail and damaging winds, while an EF1 tornado developed in Swain County.
