Event narrative
Water was flowing in normally dry ravines near the east end of the Colorado National Monument as a result of heavy rain from thunderstorms.
Wider weather episode
Ample monsoon moisture paired with the aided support aloft from a passing shortwave resulted in numerous showers and thunderstorms across western Colorado. Some storms produced heavy rain which led to a localized debris flows and flash flooding in portions of San Miguel and Mesa counties.
