Strong to severe thunderstorms formed ahead of a mid-level shortwave and surface disturbance which moved through the Ohio Valley during the afternoon and evening hours on May 18th. Storms initially formed as part of an MCS which moved across southern Indiana and into central Kentucky. After the initial MCS dissipated, scattered cells formed along the southern flank of the antecedent MCS, causing wind damage and hail across central Kentucky.
