The Weatherflow Mesonet station at XBYU Bayou Bienvenue measured a peak thunderstorm wind gust of 48 knots or 55 mph.
Wider weather episode
A frontal boundary was stalled across northern Louisiana and Mississippi. As a meso-scale convective system developed along this boundary, it began racing southeast towards the Gulf of Mexico. Although the majority of the storms within this system were sub-severe, one portion of the leading edge intensified to produce strong thunderstorm winds over Lake Borne.
