Event narrative

The AWOS station KMIS Main Pass 140B measured a peak thunderstorm wind gust of 52 knots or 60 mph.

Wider weather episode

A cold front was moving through the local area from the northwest in the early morning hours of May 6th. A line of showers and thunderstorms had formed along the frontal boundary. Although the post frontal airmass was stable, 70 degree dewpoints just ahead of the front provided just enough buoyancy and instability for a couple severe thunderstorms to develop and produce damaging winds.
