The KMIS Main Pass 140B AWOS measured a thunderstorm wind gust of 43 mph or 37 knots.

Wider weather episode

The region was under the influence of northwest flow in the upper levels. More importantly, the mid levels cooled and low levels warmed quite a bit compared to previous days. That combination resulted in steep lapse rates, a very unstable mid level environment. This was especially so over coastal locations of the local area, multiple storms produced severe thunderstorm winds.
