The AWOS station KDSF Mississippi Canyon measured a thunderstorm wind gust of 56 mph or 49 knots.

The wider storm

Following on the heels of a cold front that moved through the local area on May 25th, yet another cold front came moving through. The LIX sounding showed elevated instability. It was only in the coastal waters where that instability could be utilized by storms. Severe winds were observed at various coastal sites.
