Wider weather episode
A carryover from the previous day...the region was under the influence of northwest flow in the upper levels. More importantly, the mid levels cooled and low levels warmed quite a bit compared to previous days. That combination resulted in steep lapse rates, a very unstable mid level environment. This was especially so over coastal locations of the local area, multiple storms produced severe thunderstorm winds.
