Lack of significant rainfall over the previous 4 months led to the development of severe drought (D2) conditions over the western half Collier County. Only 1.62 of rain was measured in Marco Island and 2.65 at Naples Airport from December 1st through March 31st. This was approximately 10 to 25% of the normal value for that time period.
