Wider weather episode
A surface cold front drifted southeastward across northeast Indiana, southeast Lower Michigan, and southern Ontario during the early evening of the 1st. Simultaneously, a pre-frontal surface trough axis within the warm sector moved generally eastward across Lake Erie and vicinity. Low-level convergence and ascent along the pre-frontal trough axis acted as a focus for the development of multicellular showers and thunderstorms over western and central Lake Erie, and vicinity. A couple of these storms produced gale-force peak wind gusts along the Ohio shore as they encountered weak to moderate MUCAPE and moderate to strong DCAPE and effective bulk shear, respectively.
