Event narrative
A buoy just west of the northern tip of the Cedar Point Peninsula recorded a peak wind gust of 56 mph from a passing thunderstorm.
Wider weather episode
A cold front drifted southward from southern Lake Erie to northern Ohio during the late morning through afternoon of the 13th. Multicell thunderstorms accompanied the front. One of these storms produced a storm-force peak wind gust as it encountered weak to moderate MUCAPE and moderate DCAPE and effective bulk shear, respectively, within the warm sector.
