Blowing dust dropped the visibility to less than 1/4 mile with wind gusts measured up to 60 mph.
The wider storm
An unusually strong late season cold front moved through eastern New Mexico and West Texas. Strong northerly winds behind the cold front caused sporadic wind damage as well as low visibilities in blowing dust that caused traffic accidents and other problems.
