Event narrative

Mesonet station BRRM8 Brenner RAWS measured a 59 mph wind gust.

Wider weather episode

Upper-level ridging persisted across the Desert Southwest and Southern Plains, extending north to over the Central and Northern CONUS plains. A subtle wave lifting northeast from the Great Basin toward the Northern Rockies provided widespread lift, combined with a steepening lapse rate and weak to moderate instability to support development of scattered thunderstorms across Southwest and Central Montana. Primary threat was damaging, gusty winds. SPC had much of the CWA under a Marginal Risk with a portion of the CWA under a Slight Risk for severe storms on the 14-15th, General Thunderstorms 16th, and a Marginal Risk on the 17th for the Southwest and eastern portions of Central Montana.
