WxFlow mesonet site XMSP at Morningside Park measured a wind gust of 54 mph/47 knots as a thunderstorm moved onshore.

Wider weather episode

A mid/upper level low pressure area over the eastern Gulf of Mexico helped to draw high moisture levels across South Florida. Light winds and the formation of sea breezes helped to focus numerous showers and thunderstorms over the near shore waters and Lake Okeechobee.
