Much below normal rainfall persisted through most of May over eastern Glades County, leading to the continuation of severe drought (D2) conditions which began in April. Rainfall gradually increased in frequency and intensity as the month progressed, leading to improving conditions by the end of May.

Wider weather episode

Dry conditions since December 2021 persisted into the beginning of May across Collier County. Periods of heavy rainfall during the first week of May led to improving conditions by the second week of May.
