Event narrative
Very heavy rain formed along a stationary front and produced widespread flash flooding over a large part of southwest and south- central Missouri. Many rural and some major roads were closed or covered with water. All small streams with low water bridges were bank-full, or flooded with numerous fences and crops damaged. Local radars estimated two to three inch one-hour rainfall amounts in the warned area. Kelly Creek, in Monett, became a swollen rampage and nearly damaged downtown businesses. A few specific streams and rivers flooding were the Spring River at Waco, Osage at Schell City, and Little Osage at Horton.
