Event narrative

June started out with the northern half of the zone in Extreme(D3) drought and Severe(D2) drought over the south. By the end of the month, the entire zone was in Severe(D2) drought.

Wider weather episode

An early onset to the Southwest Monsoon brought above normal precipitation to the area, especially mountain locations where some areas received over 2 inches more precipitation than normal. Exceptional(D4) drought conditions were removed from all areas of southern New Mexico.
