Event narrative

The eastern half of the zone remained in Extreme(D3) drought with Abnormally Dry(D0) drought over the southwest.

Wider weather episode

An early onset to the Southwest Monsoon brought above normal precipitation to the area, especially mountain locations where some areas received over 2 inches more precipitation than normal. Exceptional(D4) drought conditions were removed from all areas of southern New Mexico.
