The McKinney Wildfire started around 1415 PDT on 07/29/22. The cause remains under investigation. Initially, it spread slowly, but winds from nearby thunderstorms caused it to spread rapidly on 07/30/22. As of 0530 PST on 08/01/22, the fire covered 52498 acres and was 0% contained. 0 structures were lost, and 1.0 million had been spent on firefighting efforts.
