Event narrative
A 38-year-old man who was flying a remote-controlled plane was struck by lightning. He was airlifted to an out-of-state hospital, where he died several days later.
Wider weather episode
A small cluster of strong to severe thunderstorms developed along a weak cold front as it pushed southeast across western Kentucky. A few of the storms produced wind gusts around 60 mph. A slow-moving thunderstorm caused isolated flash flooding of an urban area.
