Excessive heat impacted the lower deserts July 15-17. High temperatures ranged from 112-116 in the Coachella Valley including 116 at Ocotillo Wells on July 15; temperatures of 115 to 118 on July 16, which was also the hottest day of the event; temperatures of 111 to 117 on July 17.
Wider weather episode
Hot conditions across the inland valleys and the deserts impacted Southern California during the middle of July. A wildfire southeast of Otay Lake in San Diego County burned around 100 acres.
