Event narrative

The co-op observer near Inez reported that thunderstorm wind gusts had blown over several trees onto roadways in the Inez area. Martin County dispatch had also received 7 reports of downed trees.

Wider weather episode

A low pressure center was parked over the northern half of Indiana throughout much of the day on the 17th, with points to the south, including KY, exhibiting a warming and moistening trend throughout the day. Scattered showers and storms were present across Kentucky and surrounding areas throughout the afternoon and evening. A couple of these storms ended up resulting in several downed trees. Multiple rounds of heavy rain moved across portions of Pike County, leading to a flash flood near the community of Mouthcard.
