Event narrative
A member of the public reported a waterspout near Port Mansfield. This was associated with a trough of low pressure that moved ashore over the Coastal Bend south of Corpus Christi on August 14th.
Wider weather episode
A trough of tropical low pressure developed along the southern edge of a stalling cold front in the northwestern Gulf of Mexico. The circulation drifted ashore south of Corpus Christi and provided much needed rain to much of the Deep South Texas Ranch and Brush Country, with bands of torrential rain across the lower Rio Grande Valley. It also spawned a waterspout and thunderstorm winds across the Lower Texas Coast on August 14th.
