A strong storm and its convective outflow winds brought an observed wind gusts of 42 mph to the coastline of Kennebunkport.
Wider weather episode
An upper level area of low pressure approached from the northwest during the afternoon of June 17th along with a surface cold front. The surface cold front triggered a line of showers and storms as it approached coastal Maine. Some of the stronger storms had strong winds gusts associated with them.
