A strong thunderstorm reached Popham Beach with a personal weather station on the coastline reported a wind gust up to 55 mph.
Wider weather episode
An upper level area of low pressure approached from the northwest during the afternoon of June 17th along with a surface cold front. The surface cold front triggered a line of showers and storms as it approached coastal Maine. Some of the stronger storms had strong winds gusts associated with them.
