Event narrative

Severe drought (D2) was introduced for parts of southern Arthur County during the July 19 update of the drought monitor. The southern half of the county remains in D1, while the northern half is in D0.

Wider weather episode

Significant highlights include the expansion of D3 (extreme drought) across southwest Nebraska, continuation of D3 in far north central Nebraska, and a westward expansion of D2 (severe drought) in the Sandhills.
