Extreme drought (D3) was expanded to include central and eastern Deuel County during the July 26 update. Previously, the entire county was designated as at least D2.

Wider weather episode

Significant highlights include the expansion of D3 (extreme drought) across southwest Nebraska, continuation of D3 in far north central Nebraska, and a westward expansion of D2 (severe drought) in the Sandhills.
