A wind gust of 40 knots was measured at a WeatherFlow station at Smith Shoal Light.

An extended period of hazardous marine winds, resultant from showers and thunderstorms, impacted the Florida Keys coastal waters in association with a slowly-developing low pressure system originating near the Yucatan Peninsula. The low pressure, monitored for tropical cyclone development and designated as Potential Tropical Cyclone One, moved northeast and crossed the southern Florida peninsula the morning of June 4th. The low pressure later attained the organization necessary to become Tropical Storm Alex well east of Florida. As the low pressure required potential tropical cyclone advisories, a detailed report of maximum winds in the Florida Keys marine area is available from the MIAPSHKEY product (WMO Header ACUS72 KKEY) issued on June 7, 2022.
