Event narrative

A tree was reported down.

Wider weather episode

The bulk of the area was ensconced within a very warm and sultry air mass with dewpoints of 70-75 degrees. This allowed for a very unstable air mass that was also highly sheared. While a cold front was bearing down on the region from Ontario, most of the severe weather was initiated along a lake breeze that pushed east from Lake Erie. The thunderstorms that initiated developed very strong cores aloft and were responsible for several large hail reports of up to golf ball size. Additionally, the strongest storms of the day ripped through the Genesee Valley. Those storms were surveyed by a team from the NWS, and winds of 100 mph were estimated to be responsible for the damage found there.
