Event narrative

Very large hail reported approximately 10 miles southwest of Agate. Largest stones measured at 4.3 inches in diameter.

Wider weather episode

A significant supercell produced very large and destructive hail larger than 4 inches in diameter across Sioux County during the late afternoon into the early evening hours on July 5th. Further south, another cluster of severe thunderstorms produced wind gusts in excess of 70 MPH near Sidney.
