Event narrative
Heavy rain over the Walker Creek Burn Scar created a debris flow. The radar estimated precipitation rates of 2-3.5 inches were observed close to the location of flash flooding on Bonaparte Lake Road. Three homes and several vehicles were damaged. Power outage lasted around 4 hours.
Wider weather episode
A deep upper level low over the Gulf of Alaska pushed nearly 200% of normal precipitable water into the Inland Northwest. It generated widespread thunderstorm activity. The steering flow of the storms was slow. It allowed the storms to rain large amounts.
