A peak wind gust of 58 MPH was measured by the automated weather station at Dragon Road.
Wider weather episode
A quick moving shortwave trough acted on residual monsoon moisture to fuel showers and thunderstorms over western Colorado. Storms were slow moving and produced heavy rain with a localized debris flow occurring in La Plata County. Additionally, outflow boundaries from decaying thunderstorms resulted in strong winds in Rio Blanco County with a gust of 58 mph, which met high wind criteria.
